Saskatoon’s Spring Equinox: Celebrating the Change of Seasons
Here in Saskatoon, we embrace the changing seasons, and the Spring Equinox is the perfect time to welcome renewal with open arms—even if there still happens to be snow on the ground. Whether you prefer quiet reflection, community connection, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, there are plenty of ways to mark this special day.

Sunrise Walk Along the Meewasin Valley Trails
What better way to embrace the arrival of spring than by watching the sun rise over the South Saskatchewan River? Take an early morning walk along the Meewasin Valley trails and soak in the golden hues of the season’s first sunrise. The ice will be retreating, birds will be returning, and the crisp air will carry the promise of warmer days ahead. Bring a coffee, take a deep breath, and let nature set the tone for a season of growth and renewal.

Meditation at Wanuskewin
If you’re looking to align mind, body, and spirit with the energy of the equinox, Wanuskewin is the perfect place to do it. Wanuskewin, the nēhiyawēwin (Plains Cree) word roughly translated as 'seeking peace of mind', has been a gathering place for more than 6,400 years. This sacred land, rich with history and cultural significance, provides an inspiring backdrop for a meditative experience honouring the transition into spring. Feel the earth beneath you, listen to the whisper of the wind across the prairie, and set your intentions for the season ahead.

Seasonal Feast at Odla
Spring is a time of fresh beginnings, and what better way to celebrate than with fresh, seasonal flavours? Odla, one of Saskatoon’s best farm-to-table restaurants, curates a menu inspired by local ingredients and the changing seasons. Treat yourself to a meal that reflects the spirit of renewal—perhaps a dish featuring early spring greens, house-cured meats, or freshly baked sourdough. Pair it with a local wine or a craft cocktail, and toast to the arrival of longer days and brighter skies.

Set in one of Canada’s last remaining atmospheric theatres, this session will guide you into deep relaxation with the soothing sounds of crystal singing bowls, a shruti box, and chimes. This event put on by 8th Chakra YXE is a perfect way to reflect, reset, and step into the new season feeling refreshed.

An Evening of Stargazing
The Spring Equinox is a day of perfect balance between light and dark, making it an ideal time for stargazing. As night falls, head just outside of the city for a quiet evening under the stars. Bring a blanket, warm clothing, a thermos of tea, and take in the beauty of the night sky. If you’re lucky, you may even catch the northern lights dancing on the horizon—a breathtaking way to close out the first day of spring.
Spring is a season of renewal, and the equinox is our invitation to step into the light. However you choose to mark the occasion, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of transition. Here in Saskatoon, we don’t just watch the seasons change—we embrace them fully, with gratitude and wonder.
Happy Spring Equinox!
