Position Summary:
The Manager, Membership and Stakeholder Stewardship, is a strategic and relationship-focused role responsible for leading Discover Saskatoon’s membership program and managing the partnership with Saskatoon Destination Marketing Hotels (SDMH). Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this position strengthens partnerships, delivers meaningful member value, and ensures Discover Saskatoon remains closely connected to the businesses and organizations that drive the visitor economy.
The role includes overseeing membership recruitment, retention, engagement, communications, and events, and serving as the primary liaison for SDMH. The Manager also plays a key role in cross-organizational collaboration, ensuring alignment and communication across business units to support cohesive stakeholder engagement and reporting. The manager supports transparent reporting, collaboration, and advocacy. Success in this position is measured by membership retention and engagement, reporting accuracy, and alignment with organizational strategy.

Skillset
Membership & Partner Engagement
- Program Leadership: Lead the Discover Saskatoon membership program, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and value delivery.
- Member Recruitment and Onboarding: Recruit and onboard new members with a seamless and welcoming experience.
- Member Communications: Plan and execute member communications, including newsletters, renewals, and engagement events.
- Database Management: Maintain the membership database and provide regular performance reports and insights.
- #Saskatooning Program Oversight: Manage the #Saskatooning customer service training program, tracking and reporting on metrics, program improvement opportunities, and future training opportunities.
- Program Enhancement: Continuously assess and enhance member benefits, services, and engagement opportunities.
SDMH Stewardship
- Primary Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison to SDMH Inc., supporting General Managers, Board Members, and participating hotels.
- Coordination and Communication: Coordinate SDMH meetings, reports, communications, and ROI summaries, ensuring timely follow-up and alignment.
- Initiative Development: Develop and execute new hotel-related initiatives, communications plans, reports, and ROI summaries for SDMH initiatives.
- Performance Tracking: Track and communicate DMF performance, campaign results, and other key metrics tied to SDMH priorities.
- Executive Support: Prepare briefing materials and dashboards for the CEO and SLT to support SDMH engagement.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Collaborate across departments to ensure SDMH-aligned initiatives are delivered effectively.
- Industry Awareness: Monitor tourism and hospitality trends to identify emerging opportunities and challenges.
Advocacy & Stakeholder Relations
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with hotel partners and other key stakeholders, capturing feedback and identifying shared priorities.
- Advocacy Support: Provide insights to support the CEO’s advocacy and government relations efforts, ensuring partner perspectives are reflected in strategy and communications.
- Alignment and Collaboration: Champion collaboration and alignment across Discover Saskatoon and its partners to advance shared goals.
Strategic Planning, Reporting & Administration:
- Business Planning: Contribute to annual business planning, performance measurement, and strategic initiatives.
- Data and Reporting: Lead reporting for membership engagement and SDMH partnerships, providing data-driven insights.
- Budget Management: Manage budgets for membership and SDMH programs with fiscal accountability.
- Organizational Alignment: Support initiatives that align with Discover Saskatoon’s sustainability, inclusion, and destination stewardship priorities.
Cross-Organizational Collaboration
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with Marketing, Business Development, and Leadership teams on partner communications and joint initiatives.
- Program Support: Support activations, campaigns, and programs that engage members and hotels.
- Representation: Represent Discover Saskatoon at industry and community events.
Key Indicators
- Membership Retention and Engagement: Achieves a minimum 90% annual member retention rate and demonstrates year-over-year growth in engagement through participation metrics, renewals, and program activity levels.
- Reporting and Accountability: Delivers 100% of SDMH and membership reports on time, maintaining 95% accuracy across data submissions, ROI summaries, and performance dashboards.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Achieves a 90% or higher partner satisfaction score through regular feedback surveys and measurable improvement in hotel and member collaboration initiatives.
- Program and Event Execution: Ensures 100% completion of scheduled member communications, renewals, and engagement events, meeting defined timelines and achieving participation targets.
- Strategic and Brand Contribution: Demonstrates measurable impact on Discover Saskatoon’s visibility and strategic goals, with evidence of favourable media coverage, community partnerships, and alignment with sustainability and inclusion initiatives.
Toolset
- CRM & Membership Systems: Proficient in platforms like Simpleview, HubSpot, or similar CRMs for member tracking, renewals, and performance reporting.
- Project Management: Skilled in project management tools and planners to coordinate initiatives and communications on schedule.
- Collaboration Tools: Uses Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint for effective communication and coordination.
- Event & Engagement: Experienced with Eventbrite, Mailchimp, and Canva for events, member outreach, and campaigns.
- Data & Reporting: Proficient in Excel, Power BI, or Google Sheets for analysis and dashboard reporting.
- Digital and Marketing Tools: Comfortable with Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, and other social or media tracking platforms to support marketing and communication objectives.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in stakeholder relations, membership engagement, tourism, or business development.
- Education: Post-secondary education in business, tourism, hospitality, communications, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience using digital tools, reporting platforms, and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Knowledge: Understanding of tourism, destination marketing, and partnership development.
- Community Connection: Genuine interest in community engagement and advancing Saskatoon’s visitor economy.
- Mobility: Ability to travel within Saskatoon and regionally for meetings and industry events (approx. 5–10 days per year).
