Bean There, Sipped That: Cozy Coffee Spots for Fall Days

Entertainment, Food & Drink

Saskatoon's café scene has some brewtiful spots to enjoy—here are my favorites this fall!

As the leaves turn golden and a crisp breeze fills the air, nothing says 'cooler weather' quite like wrapping your hands around a warm cup of coffee, and Saskatoon's café scene has plenty of cozy spots for you! Whether you're seeking a quiet spot to read, hunker down and do some work, or a warm place to catch up with friends, here are some of my favourite places to enjoy some coffee!

coffee

Junior Café- 737 Broadway Ave

Located on the beautiful Broadway Ave, Jr. Café is a must-stop for coffee! It has a great minimalist chill vibe that offers a lot of sunshine through the bright windows, where you can escape the cold but still have the warmth from the sun! They offer a variety of coffee options, breakfast sandwiches, local donuts from Hometown Diner and different pastries (I LOVE their cinnamon buns!) I love meeting friends here for a visit and chatting away while sipping coffee! They also have a second location located in Riversdale!

Citizen Café- 18-23rd St. E

One of the things I love about my daughter, aka my mini-me, is she growing up so fast and enjoys going for coffee with me (well, she enjoyed a hot chocolate, no coffee yet!) Maeve loved going to Citizen Café and Bakery, like mother like daughter! She always asks to go back, so I will have to take her for another visit!

Located downtown on 23rd street and has such a cozy atmosphere. It is so comfortable and inviting with its exposed brick wall, warm lighting and cozy seating. Their espresso bar features creative specialty beverages using house-made syrups, and their food is homemade with passed-down recipes from generations. They offer lunch, breakfast, and a LARGE variety of baking that is out of the world! Be sure to add Citizen to your list for your next visit!

The Underground Café- 430 20th St. W

Okay, this was the first time I had gone to Underground Café. I heard about it many times but had never been. Well, this won't be the last time, I promise you that! Located in the heart of Riversdale, this edgy, but cozy café is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee, breakfast or lunch and sweet treats! They play classic tunes with an actual record player, have an area for music, and some funky music décor around the space! I love that their menu has such fun names that keep with the music vibe, like Cat Stevens and Neil Young; see, so cute, right? I enjoyed the Ritchie Valens, which was a cinnamon and brown sugar la la la latte!

coffee

Café Del Rey- 345 3 Ave S #2

Located in the heart of downtown Saskatoon, Café Del Rey offers an inviting blend of warmth and charm. Perfect for a fall day, this café brings a cozy vibe with its colourful decor, rich aromas, and friendly atmosphere. Café Del Rey offers quick service options for people on the go and an inviting seating area for those looking for a cozy and relaxing environment. I love heading here to work and enjoying the natural sun through the big windows. If you are in town for work or staying downtown, take a walk on a fall day and warm up in this inviting space with great company and good local coffee! My favourite is their vanilla latte and their breakfast sandwich! They also have grab-and-go sandwiches, warm paninis and different soups of the day, the best place for the ultimate fall comfort experience.

Alt Haus Interior Design- 617A Main Street East

Alt Haus Interior Design is seriously one of the best-hidden gems in Saskatoon. Located just off Broadway, Alt Haus is a one-stop shop for interior designs, murals, furniture, art, etc. Now, I'm sure you are thinking, "Bailie, I thought this was a blog about Cafes." Well, you aren't wrong! Inside this extremely cool, fun, and bright store is a cute little coffee shop that makes a great cup of handcrafted coffee or tea! They have in "Haus" specials (see what I did there!) with homemade syrups to elevate the flavour! With one of the friendliest baristas I've ever met, stop by after a fall day of shopping along Broadway and grab a delicious beverage. The best part is that you can continue to shop around this fun store, warm up with a cup of coffee, and grab a print of Saskatoon for a possible souvenir!

coffee

These are just a few of my favourite coffee stops! However, Saskatoon has so many other options. I'm going to share a few more for you to check out on your next visit! I highly recommend checking out Pique Café, Botte Chai Bar, Living Sky Café, D'Lish by Tish, Sparrow and City Perk!

Each café I have mentioned has its own unique charm, but they all share the coziness and comfort of warming up on a cold day. So, bundle up, head out, and enjoy your coffee amidst the beauty of Saskatoon! What café will you try first?
