Food & Drink

If you’re spending a weekend in Saskatoon and want to experience the city’s diverse and delicious food scene, these five spots are absolute musts.

Whether you’re a brunch lover, dinner adventurer, or always chasing the best cocktails in town—this list has you covered.

1. Dinner at Hearth – Elevated Prairie Cuisine at the Remai

“Locally sourced ingredients and thoughtfully prepared—Hearth is where fine dining meets Saskatchewan inspiration.”

Located inside the stunning Remai Modern Museum, Hearth is a fine dining experience that celebrates the richness of Saskatchewan’s local bounty. Owned and operated by local Chefs Thayne and Beth, this spot delivers a seasonal menu that’s as thoughtful as it is delicious.

I highly recommend trying  their 5-Course Tasting Menu, featuring highlights from the main menu and exclusive creations made just for the tasting experience. It doesn’t matter if  you’re a cocktail connoisseur  or a seasoned wine enthusiast, you’ll feel right at home here!

2. Brunch at Botte Chai Bar – Authentic Persian Cuisine Meet Brunch Vibes

“Don’t shy away if it’s an unfamiliar cuisine—this is brunch on a whole new level.”

Tucked away like a secret waiting to be shared, Botte Chai Bar serves traditional  Persian brunch—and it is elite. This charming late night café delivers bold, unique flavors in a warm and inviting space.

My go-to orders? The Peasant’s Breakfast and any omelette on the menu. My husband and I usually split both so we don’t have to choose. The Tehran Fog latte is a must-sip, and their house-made iced teas are one-of-a-kind. And yes—it’s breakfast, but don’t skip dessert. Grab a rose water infused cream horn, speckled with pistachios or their signature baklava, and if you’re visiting in the summer, ask about the saffron and pistachio ice cream sandwiches!

3. Lunch at Faifo Concept – Best Vietnamese in YXE

“The Crispy Pork Banh Mi lives rent-free in my head.”

For lunch, head to Faifo Concept on Broadway, which I firmly believe is Saskatoon’s best Vietnamese restaurant. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors are vibrant, and the atmosphere is relaxed but stylish. If you’re looking for a cheap noodle bowl spot, this is NOT the play. The quality and flavours here are truly a step above the rest.

My ride-or-die order is the Crispy Pork Banh Mi. It’s crispy, juicy, and reminds me of the Crispy Pork my mom makes at home. My husband is a noodle bowl loyalist, and always goes for the M2 – Faifo Grilled Pork Noodle Bowl with meatballs, grilled pork, and their crave-worthy spring rolls. Pro tip: always add spring rolls to your order if they’re not already included.

4. Sushi Raku & Moto – Where Japanese and Korean Flavours Shine

“Chef Jason’s passion for his craft has always been my favourite thing about him!”

Whether you’re craving sushi, sashimi, or comforting japchae noodles, Sushi Raku and its sister restaurant Moto offer a deep dive into Japanese (with a dash of Korean) cuisine.

At Sushi Raku, I never skip the Japchae, BC Roll, or Omakase Sashimi. And if they have the deep-fried mango ice cream on the menu—do not hesitate. At Moto, my top pick is the Mentaiko Udon, but for something extra luxe, go all in on the Uni, Ikura & Spot Prawn Donburi. Jason has the ingredients freshly flown in from Vancouver!

5. Sulu – Saskatoon’s Newest Fusion Hot Spot

“Latest and greatest of Andy’s work!”

From the creators of Odd Couple comes Sulu, Saskatoon’s latest and greatest Asian-fusion restaurant. This place gives Izakaya vibes with its dark and moody aesthetic and the red lanterns hung from the ceiling make me feel like I’m in a hidden gem of a food spot in Asia.  Let’s talk about fried rice because if I’m being honest, I’ve never truly loved any fried rice that I’ve ordered in Saskatoon —both the Cantonese and Japanese Curry versions at Sulu are next-level. I’m Chinese so RICE IS LIFE.

Additionally, do not miss out on the prosciutto-wrapped grapes (yes, really—they’re magic). If you’re a cocktail enthusiast, you MUST peruse this menu. The Tokyo Toddy is comforting and complex, while the Thrilla in Manila is a rich, ube-based delight that feels like dessert in a glass. I usually don’t like Ube flavoured things but this was incredibly delicious.
