Tribute to Youth statue

Tribute to Youth

This bronze sculpture captures the ebullience of youth. It was created by artist William Epp and installed in 1989 to commemorate Saskatoon hosting the Canada Games. Energetic figures with interlocked limbs create a dynamic composition that nudges the viewer into a childlike state of play.

Born in 1930 in Glenbush, Saskatchewan, Epp became interested in the creative use of metal from an early age from watching the work of his father, a blacksmith. He would later go on to teach sculpture, design, drawing, and art history at the University of Saskatchewan. His work is held in prestigious collections including the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Remai Modern, University of Saskatchewan, and beyond.
