Soul of the Land
Just beyond the doors of the iconic Delta Bessborough Hotel (known to locals as “the Bess”) you’ll find this striking stone installation from sculptor Edward Gibney. Unveiled in 1995, the piece is crafted from limestone with a natural granite centre, interrogating the intersection of the man-made with the natural world.
Artist’s Statement: “This sculpture grew out of interests in developing spatial tensions and implied forces within a block, bringing together stone carved by man and stone carved by nature.”
