Sir Wilfrid Laurier and John Diefenbaker
Bill Epp’s statue at the corner of 21st Street and 1st Avenue is a tribute to two towering Canadian statesmen: Sir Wilfrid Laurier and John Diefenbaker. The statue depicts an apocryphal 1910 scene, in which the young, then-unknown Diefenbaker sold a newspaper to then-Prime Minister, reportedly speaking to him for more than half an hour. The piece was donated to the City of Saskatoon in 1990.
