Rock Your Roots: Walk for Reconciliation
Time 10:00 AM
The Rock Your Roots: Walk for Reconciliation honours Residential School Survivors and invites community to show up and demonstrate their commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. "Rock your roots" by wearing the cultural regalia of your ancestors or carrying your nation's flag. Or wear orange to honour the Survivors!
We will begin on the morning of June 21 with a Pipe Ceremony. We are inviting the general public to assemble at the walk start point at the top of Victoria Park at 10am.
The walk begins at 10:30am and includes a 40 min - 60 min route that proceeds along the river. Along the walk, cultural performers are stationed to enrich the walk and showcase inclusion and diversity in the city.
At 11:10am - 11:40am, people finish their circular route and end up back in Victoria Park where there is a stage and activities.
After the walk, the Saskatoon Indian Métis Friendship Centre hosts a celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
