A look down a trail on the Meewasin

Early Morning

Begin your day with a refreshing ride along the Meewasin Valley Trail. This trail stretches over 105 kilometers and runs along the South Saskatchewan River, providing stunning views of the water and the surrounding natural beauty. You can start your journey at any point, but a popular starting spot is the Meewasin Park, located just north of downtown. From there, head south towards the city center, taking in the vibrant greenery, peaceful river, and occasional wildlife sighting.

The trail is well-maintained and features several lookout points and rest areas where you can take a break, snap some photos, and enjoy peaceful environment. The paths are perfect for all levels of cyclists, making it an ideal route for families, solo riders, and groups.

Late Morning

After enjoying the north side of the river, make your way across the Traffic Bridge towards the University of Saskatchewan. The campus is just a short ride away and is home to beautiful architecture, historic buildings, and well-manicured green spaces. Bike through the pathways of this prestigious institution and continue north to the Sculpture Garden—perfect for a quick rest or leisurely walk.

From here, you can continue along the Meewasin Trail back to Meewasin Park.

Lunch Break

After a refreshing ride through the University of Saskatchewan campus, it's time to refuel at one of Saskatoon’s bike-friendly cafés. A personal favourite of mine is City Perks, nestled in the heart of City Park neighbourhood. It’s got a great, welcoming atmosphere and delicious offerings. Whether you're craving a hearty sandwich, a fresh salad, or just a perfectly brewed cup of coffee, City Perks has you covered. Park your bike, relax on the charming patio, and enjoy a well-deserved break before continuing your cycling adventure.

Afternoon

After you’ve fueled up and you're up for a bit of adventure, consider biking south out of the city to Furdale or Cranberry Flats. This scenic ride takes you along the South Saskatchewan River and through beautiful countryside, offering stunning views and a chance to really stretch your legs. The journey itself is part of the fun, with quiet roads and plenty of nature to enjoy along the way.

Once you arrive, you'll find a perfectly serene natural area great for unwinding. Explore the sandy beaches, take a dip in the river, or hike along the well-maintained trails that wind through the native prairie landscape. It's a peaceful spot to relax, have a snack, and soak in the beauty of the South Saskatchewan River before heading back to the city.

Saskatoon’s bike-friendly routes offer an incredible way to see the city and connect with its natural beauty. Whether you're riding along the river, exploring our historic campus, or heading out to grab a bite to eat, every turn offers something new and exciting. So grab your bike, hit the trails, and discover the best of Saskatoon on two wheels!
