Contest Info:
What is Street Style skateboarding?
There was a time that skateparks were few and far between. While the 70s-80s saw the rise of skateboarding in empty pools, half-pipes, and flatground skateboarding, skaters in the 90s realized that they could take their skills into the streets jumping down stairs, onto concrete ledges, and even handrails. Skateparks came to start designing these features in skateparks, where it exists today as a preferred style of some skaters.
What is Park Style skateboarding?
Think half-pipes, bowls, big airs and long grinds around the edges. This style of skateboarding grew out of empty pools in California in the 1970s. Today it has its own format in competitions, taking center stage in the Olympics for the first time in 2020.
The YXE Urban Games skateboarding championships is open to skaters of all ages and abilities. It will feature boys and girls 15 and under categories in both Park and Street events, with the chance to win medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. It will also feature Open Mens and Open Womens in both Park and Street events, with the chance to win medals and cash prizes!
Schedule:
- 2:00pm - Street Style including under 16, women's, and men's
- 4:00pm - Park Style including under 16, women's and men's
- 5:30 pm - Award Ceremony
Park contest takes place in the bowl and extends to the small quarterpipe and the "horseshoe" spine and QP
